Waaaaay Behind

15. my routine. as boring as it might be, I function better with a little bit of a routine.
16. Quiet Rainy days (although I am more thankful when I can nap though them)
17. cuddling with the boyfriend (yeah, it's sappy. so what.)
18. words. reading. writing. (even when I don't keep up with this like I should.)
19. my job. I really do work with some great people, who have monthly potluck lunches for who ever happens to have a birthday that month. what's not to love.
20. Cleaning. aka my therapy. There isn't anything quite like cranking up my music and getting work done. my kitchen looks brand new.
21. Raleigh. there is something quite perfect about that city. I know that there is something infinitely special about the people in it.
22. The poppiest pop music, that is laced with nostalgia: The Backstreet Boys.

I hated leaving Raleigh this week. More so than usual. The pines are very nice, and I love being close to Mac. But sometimes I miss the city. I miss the food options, target, and especially the people. But I think I miss the life the most.

It's been a nostalgic couple of days. I blame November. But it really is one of my favorite months. Not sure why, but it is. Maybe that's why I'm so protective of Thanksgiving.

I can't remember when the earth turned slowly...

9. Glee :]
10. Co-workers who appreciate me
11. Thursdays that are more like Fridays
12. Love. Weddings. Family.
13. Autumn in NY. Family, always family.
14. Being able to sit and not move.

It's been another crazy week, but absolutely wonderful. Thursday did end up being my Friday, because mom and I headed up to NY for my cousin's wedding.
We left 10pm Thursday...and 14 hours later (and a bizarre detour though the Poconos...what the heck google?) we arrived in Saratoga Springs NY. I don't know why I thought I could drive through the night to upstate NY and be ready for 5:30 wedding on Friday, but I did. Hopefully I didn't look to rediculous.
Random confession time: I haven't been to a wedding since I was 3 or 4, in which case I was the flower girl in my Aunt's wedding...and if the pictures are any indication, I was not a happy camper.
But this wedding was just wonderful. It was my Dad's side of the family, who I don't see enough already, but it was just perfect. My cousin/godbrother was the Groom and he and his new wife, Tracy, just looked like the happiest people on the face of the earth and it just filled my heart. I knew I liked her from the moment she went "woo-hoo!" right after she handed her bouquet to her maid of honor after she walked down the isle. The happiness was just palpable and it filled the room.

I love NY in the fall. There is something just so perfect about it. My Godmother says that I was raised in the south, but that it's a NY heart I have inside. I have to say...she's got that one right.

Also, Google continues to creep me out. I used Google maps to get us home. The route it chose took us straight to Princeton, NJ. I had no idea how beautiful and perfect that little town was. Needless to say Princeton has been added to my list for (long-shots) law school choices. Dare to dream.
Then it took be down the 495 through DC. It was the east side of DC which I am less familiar with, but we went past the exit for Pennsylvania Avenue and Wash. Mo. stayed in my sights till we go out of the city. Perfection. Google you are wonderful and creepy.

Now, I'm back in the pines, recovering from my travel blitz. Back to grind. Being a grown up is still weird.

And If I die in Raleigh at least I will die free.

7. Northpark Church, Friendships that never grow old and Target.
8. 12 Oatmeal Raisin Walnut cookies for a dollar at HT.

Today was a Monday right out of the movie Office Space (homicidal thoughts towards office equipment and all). Then again it would have taken a lot to make this Monday seem okay when compared with this wonderful, magical weekend.

Being back at Meredith (even if it was just for a few hours) and being with my friends, was exactly what I needed. Remembering old jokes and making new ones like nothing has really changed was just awesome. What was so great was seeing that even though we are growing up and living separate lives, we can still come together and laugh, celebrate and enjoy each other's company like we never left the walls of MC.

I miss them already, but I'm so thankful for those girls and I can't wait to see them again. :]

3. Democracy...even when it doesn't go my way. And new music from an old favorite artist.
4. Dancing. And it's ability to push the frustrations out my life for a while.
5. Friends. Corn. Meredith College. So much love.
6. Rest and my family.

Okay, so this time I really was quite busy for the past few days. I should probably accept the fact that the 1st week of November will always been super busy, no matter how far away I am from MC.

And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Corn was wonderful. Brilliant work from some amazing ladies, but I have to say my favorite part was being able to slip back in to the friendships and magic that were the last four years (without the stress of actually have to do corn!). I love those ladies more than anything and their company brings out the best in me (I hope anyway).
Counting down till the next time I get to see them all again (which...should be tomorrow :] )

Thankful days.

I'm not a very good blogger. When I was in college I had the excuse of being too busy.
I'm not in college any more, and while I keep busy it's not like it was then.
However, when I give myself a task, an assignment if you will, then I get it done.
So my assignment for November is, again, to declare my thanks every day through November.

1. Autumn. It took about an extra month for it to get here it seemed, but it is always worth the wait.
2. Connections. I love that the 21st century keeps my friends and I connected even when me and my BFF can't watch the election returns in our beloved 1208, or when I start my day with a tear-jerking episode of Boy Meets World, I'll know that Madam VP/Senate Chair Lane is watching right along with me even if it's miles away.

Maybe in starting this back I'll actually use it. Who knows.

Sunglow

Without a job I've been looking for ways to stay busy. The primary way I have done this is by redoing my bedroom (and that was mainly by rearranging and cleaning). And then I took on my bathroom.
I should have taken a before picture, but it had this tacky wallpaper with tiny little pastel flowers on it. It was fine for kids, but it was time for an upgrade.

So I painted it yellow. I was never a fan of yellow, but then I agreed to take the yellow bathroom in the Oaks and I turned out to really like it (Thanks, Kasey!). Also, the shower curtain and towels I had already matched the yellow, so it was simple enough.

I give you my "Sunglow" Yellow Bathroom.

Next stop is the downstairs bathroom. Looks like I might have a future in home improvement.

Starting another trip around the sun

So I've applied to 10+ law firms (and received 4 very nice thanks, but no thanks letters), 2 random office positions, and even 2 positions at the Pinehurst resort. Other than the aforementioned rejection letters I haven't heard anything. It's frustrating in the moment, but I always know it will work out.
I guess what drives me crazy is just not having anything to do. I hate feeling like I'm stalling. So I have to find other projects to do. Like painting my bathroom. Which has proved to be slightly more obnoxious than I thought it would be, but my OCD just wants the clutter outside my bathroom to go away so it will have to be finished soon.
Also, I know there are plenty of things I could do for free. I could go work for the Moore County Dems (heaven knows they need the help) and I could go offer some tech assistance for the new community theatre group in town, I could even do some freelance writing for the Pilot. But at some point I've got to have some income and that's where it gets tricky.

But again I know it will work out and I'm trying to keep that worry level in check.

Yet, there is something very exciting about the uncertainty in it all. I mean really anything is possible. Yes, the plan is still law school and so on and so forth. But right now I mean really I could do anything. And I've always been blessed with the ability to dream and follow what ever I want to, and now is no exception. I mean I could start studying for the LSAT and have a mental break and go "WHAT WAS I THINKING!?"
But you know what. That would be totally okay. I could end up being a baker, something in theatre, heck I even contacted the studio where I danced in high school and she might be looking for some help in her studio teaching a theatre class and a few other things. Who knows where I'll end up by the end of this trip around the sun.

I just finished reading Carol Burnett's biography "This Time Together." In addition to getting completely pumped for her appearance on GLEE, it was just a remarkable book. She lived an incredible life, and followed everyone of her dreams and some how they all met up with her. And really that's all anyone can hope for.

I don't know where I'll be working. I don't know where I'll be going to Law School. IF I go to Law School. But I've always been blessed enough to end up where I belonged...even if I didn't think I belonged there. (Someday, Ask me how I ended up at Meredith.)

I'm 22 and I don't know anything. All I know for certain is that He'll never steer me wrong, and anything is possible.
