Brief note

When I was a junior in high school I took a trip up to Washington D.C. for a leadership conference/workshop/seminar thing. It was the time of my life. Made me fall in love with DC and realize that was what I needed in my life. I roamed the sidewalks of DC more or less on my own, and the office buildings and even the Capitol. On one of the days I was at the Capitol I used my vistor pass to sit in the Senate Gallery. It was a sleepy day on the hill, with very few senators even around. But then Ted Kennedy walked in. He didn't have an extremely important statement to make. It was something about some district court judge appointment. But he created that Kennedy energy. It was very cool. It made me think, that would be a cool job.

So tonight I was sitting around listening to Sara Bareilles and Michael Buble. I had CNN on mute, but I saw breaking news, so I perked up and turned it on. They said Ted Kennedy had died.
I was incredibly sad. Anyone who knows the history of the Kennedy's and Ted specifically knows that they were plagued with tragedy. In the height of their popularity the Kennedy's were known as the Camelot family. They were a dynasty.
And now, in my mind, Camelot is really gone.
Truly the end of an era.

Sad times.
